Body Signature Series: How to Create Curves For A Rectangle Body Shape



If your shoulders and hips are the same width and your waist is less than 10" smaller (or equal to the width of your shoulder/hip) you have a Rectangle Body Shape.

Many Rectangle Shaped Woman have a slim, athletic build like Kate Middleton.

If this is your body shape and you'd like to create the appearance of more curves, Kate is also a great example of how to do this.

As you can see from the collage below, Kate employs a number of style tricks to give the illusion of a curvier shape.


Kate uses pockets, peplums, prints and patterns, soft pleats, gathers, seaming, layers and wraps to draw attention to her waist and add volume to her bust and hip areas.



Some Women with a Rectangle shape have a fuller bust.

Queen Latifah is a great example of a fuller Rectangle Shape.
