Casual Outfits: For The Winter Type
This is the first in a 4-part series in which I will be sharing some Casual Outfit suggestions for each of the Seasons. We are talking "around the house" casual. A step above pajamas or loungewear, but a step down from what you might wear for casual Friday at work. These are the types of outfits we grab for a "day in" but they are presentable enough for us to walk the dog, take your kids to the park, greet folks at the door, or pop out for groceries.
With Winter types it is imperative that you choose clothing with high quality fabric and beautiful design. Yes, even for your casual wear.
To put a casual outfit together I recommend you start with the pant. Choose a pant style that is both comfortable and flattering on you: Legging, Yoga or athletic pant, Black Jeans, Knit Pants, or Leather Pant etc.
Once you've selected the bottom half of your outfit, you can choose a top that pairs with it. Here are some examples that would work well for a Winter type:
A Black legging paired with an oversized cotton blouse or tunic top. Add comfy loafers or boots for stepping out.
A Yoga pant, top & optional vest which could be paired with flats.
Black denim & a cashmere sweater. Add a stylish tennis shoe or ankle bootie for heading out of the house.
A knit pant paired with a blouse or a sweater or both.
As you can see, there are any number of combinations of pants and tops you can pair for a casual and comfortable outfit.
To add even more interest to your outfits, you can add texture, pattern, a pop of color, or unique accessories.
A textured sweater pairs nicely with leather or vegan- leather pants for casual glam.
A plaid in your best colors and scale is an awesome option for a more casual look. For added interest, mix plaid with plaid by adding a second plaid patterned scarf or vest over a plaid shirt.
Make sure that your outerwear for everyday works with your choice of casual outfit.
A casual outfit might also be influenced by Persian, Algerian, Egyptian, East Indian, Russian, Asian, Turkish or Polynesian design.
And remember, for a casual outfit to look and feel amazing, the overall silhouette should be chosen to flatter your Body Signature and express your personal style and energy.
And even with your most casual outfits, you'll feel best in high quality fabric and design so don't skimp on your casual wear. Your casual outfits should look and feel as fabulous as you are!
