Mid-Life Chic keeps her cool in a variety of linen and cotton blend dresses.
As spring moves into summer most of us are faced with the challenge of what to wear so that we stay (and feel) stylishly cool even on those hot, humid days. I'm going to draw from some ideas from a few beautiful over- 40 fashion bloggers.
There's truly a dress for every style preference and Body shape so this is a universal option. You can use a self-tanning lotion instead of stockings and dress it up or down with your shoe and purse choices.
But, if dresses are challenging for your Body Signature or Personal Style, then a skirt and top is another cool option for hot, humid days. Nikki chooses a plain cotton t-shirt to pair with a peasant style skirt and Beth has paired a straight cotton skirt with an open weave blouse. There are endless combinations you can create with lightweight skirts and tops.
A maxi dress is another great option for warm weather wear. Add a wrap or a shrug when you are working or dining in an air-conditioned location. Nikki and Kim both look comfortably chic in these maxi dresses.
Annette's casual elegance showcases a minimalist approach to summer dressing. The high contrast black and white pairing beautifully with her Winter harmony.
A pant or capri in a thin, cool fabric paired with a blouse or t-shirt is another easy look for most women to wear.
How fun is this black and white outfit by Judith, The Style Crone. Or maybe you'd love the sporty look of Tanya's golf dress paired with white and pink tennis shoes ?
As you can see, warm weather dressing doesn't have to be boring. Ideally you should seek outfits that are in your Color & Style and that fit your lifestyle.
And hey, if you feel comfortable wearing shorts then take a page from Petra and add some stylish accessories to kick them up a notch.
I've gotten so inspired for warm weather outfits just putting this post together and I hope it's inspired you as well.
So what's your favorite thing to wear on a hot summer's day?
